Nest

What Nest Does

Nest is a smart-home control app for managing compatible Nest devices from an Android phone. It brings temperature control, home security, cameras, doorbells, locks and safety sensors into one place, making it suitable for households that use more than one Nest product. The app is developed by Nest Labs Inc. and is listed in the Lifestyle category.

Home Control and Monitoring

With a compatible Nest thermostat, users can adjust the temperature remotely and review energy history. Home and Away Assist can use the household’s location to help manage the home automatically, reducing the need for repeated manual changes.

• Control Nest Learning Thermostats and check energy information.
• View live feeds from supported Nest Cam devices and doorbells.
• Receive alerts about activity, including detected people where supported.
• Use two-way communication through compatible cameras and doorbells.

Security and Safety Features

The app can also act as a central place for supported security equipment. Users may receive notifications about door activity, manage access through compatible Nest x Yale Locks, and check information from Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Remote alarm silencing and battery-status checks are available for supported devices. The usefulness of these tools depends on the Nest hardware connected to the account.

Ratings and Overall Fit

Nest has more than 10,000,000 installs and a rating of 3.83 out of 5 from 441,911 reviews. It is a practical choice for existing Nest owners who want one dashboard for climate, security and safety products. People with only a single device may find the app’s broader controls less relevant, while households with several compatible products can benefit most from its unified monitoring and notification system.
